  • Local Document Scanning: All document processing, camera capture, passport and ID card scanning, image cropping, and PDF conversions happen 100% locally on your phone.

  • Zero Cloud Uploads: We do not host cloud servers to harvest, view, or store your scanned documents or imported gallery photos. Your files never leave your device unless you choose to share them yourself.

  • Minimal Permission Requests: We only ask for essential hardware capabilities strictly required to capture and convert paper documents.

2. DATA WE HANDLE AND HOW WE USE IT

Your Scanned Photos & Documents

Whether you take a photo of an ID card, scan a passport, or import an image from your phone's gallery, this content is processed strictly in real-time memory on your mobile device. We do not collect, read, or store any of your scanned content.

Automatically Collected Diagnostic Data

To keep the app running smoothly, fix bugs, and prevent crashes across different mobile devices, certain non-personal diagnostic details are handled automatically by our trusted analytics tools:

  • Basic usage statistics (such as screens viewed, feature interactions, and session durations).

  • Device specifications (such as your phone model, operating system version, screen resolution, and language settings).

3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES & ADVERTISING

To keep PDF Scanner free to use, we partner with reliable third-party services that assist with app analytics, crash reporting, and ad delivery. These partners process non-identifiable and diagnostic data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

  • Google Play Services: Provides core system support and app license validation.

  • AdMob: Serves non-personalized or contextual advertisements. AdMob may process your device's advertising identifier (AD_ID) for ad performance measurement, frequency capping, and fraud prevention.

  • Google Analytics for Firebase: Helps us understand aggregate app usage trends so we can improve features.

  • Firebase Crashlytics: Collects system crash reports to help us resolve performance bugs quickly.

4. APP PERMISSIONS & HARDWARE FEATURES

To deliver full document scanning and PDF viewing/sharing functionality, the Application uses the following Android permissions and system declarations:

  • android.permission.CAMERA: Allows the Application to access your device's physical camera hardware strictly to capture real-time photos, scan paper documents, ID cards, and passports within the app interface.

  • android.hardware.camera (uses-feature): Declares system hardware capability to enable camera-based document scanning features (configured with required="false" to ensure maximum device compatibility across all smartphones).

  • Package Queries & System Intents (<queries>): Allows the Application to safely query installed PDF viewing and sharing applications on your device strictly to enable opening, previewing (VIEW), and exporting/sharing (SEND) your generated PDF documents to external apps.

5. REGULATORY COMPLIANCE & GLOBAL RIGHTS

GDPR (European Economic Area & UK Rights)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Legal Basis for Processing: Our legal basis for local document processing is strictly the performance of contract (providing you with scanning utilities on your device). Diagnostic data and ad serving are processed based on our legitimate interest in maintaining app performance and revenue, or upon your explicit consent where required.

  • Data Rights: Because we do not store personal data or scanned documents on external servers, you retain direct control over your data. You have the right to request access, rectification, erasure, or restricted processing of any personal data handled by third-party SDKs. You may also adjust your consent preferences within the app or opt out of personalized tracking via system settings.

COPPA & Children's Privacy (US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act)

  • PDF Scanner is designed as a general utility tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA).

  • Solo Logix does not knowingly collect, request, or solicit personal information from children.

  • If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13 via third-party analytics/ad services, we will take immediate steps to purge that data from our systems. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided us with personal information can contact us directly.

CCPA / CPRA (California Consumer Privacy Act)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA:

  • Right to Know & Delete: You have the right to request information about the categories of personal data collected and request its deletion.

  • No Sale of Personal Information: Solo Logix does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or scanned documents to third parties.

6. YOUR CHOICES & DATA CONTROL

  • Clear Local App Data: You can delete all cached files, temporary images, and local settings at any time through your phone’s settings: Settings > Apps > Pdf Scanner - Document Scanner > Storage > Clear Data / Clear Cache.

  • Revoke Camera Access: You can toggle Camera access on or off via Settings > Apps > Pdf Scanner - Document Scanner > Permissions.

  • Reset Advertising ID: You can reset your device's advertising ID or opt out of personalized interest-based ads via your phone's privacy settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads).

  • Uninstall: You can stop all processing immediately by uninstalling the app using standard device procedures.

7. SECURITY & RETENTION

We implement industry-standard physical, technical, and procedural safeguards to keep the app secure. Since your scanned documents, passports, and ID photos remain strictly on your local device storage, your files are protected by your device’s native security measures (e.g., your PIN, fingerprint, or password). We encourage you to keep your device secured.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our app features or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back periodically to stay informed.
